Javier Garcerá

Statement

For more than twenty years he has developed a work that has never been influenced by fashions or market trends. Expanding the limits of pictorial language through the use of technology and materials outside the tradition of painting, his work has revolved around concern for the place that contemporary man occupies with respect to the idea of nature in its broadest sense. Based on the nature/culture dialectic, its search has been related to that paradoxical situation that occurs when, knowing that we are part of nature, we cannot help but feel a painful distance from it.

In a time in which our relationship with the world passes through the coldness of the screen, Garcerá proposes a type of work that, promoting a certain loss of gaze on the unfathomable, denies the possibility of its reproduction in order to recover a silent presence of the viewer and a state of consciousness from which reality can be perceived at a closer distance. Foundational concepts of non-dual Eastern philosophies such as interrelation, time, process, impermanence, silence or emptiness are at the base of their proposals.
